Master of Training and Development

Why study the Master of Training and Development at UNE?

This course is designed for students with considerable work experience, particularly in training and/or management. The aim is to develop reflective practitioners who can describe, analyse and improve workplace training and development practices. The course will benefit training supervisors, human resource managers and learning and development professionals in educational institutions, education departments and/or public sector organisations which effect change by developing and promoting a learning-centred environment.

(b) hold a graduate diploma relevant to the award.

Advanced Standing

Advanced standing is available for other postgraduate study that has a reasonable correspondence with units prescribed for this degree.

The maximum advanced standing that can be granted for units that have been successfully completed towards a postgraduate qualification at this or another university or institution is 50% of a program.

Admission to Candidature

A candidate shall:
(a) hold a degree of a university or equivalent; or
(b) hold a graduate diploma relevant to the award.

The maximum advanced standing that can be granted for units that have been successfully completed towards a postgraduate qualification at this or another university or institution is 50 percent of a program.

Period of Candidature

The period of candidature shall be up to six years as a part-time candidate.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 72 credit points at 500, 600 or 700 level.

Candidates shall complete an approved program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Master of Training and Development.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to develop reflective practitioners who can describe, analyse and improve workplace training and development practices.

Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  1. assess the effectiveness of individual trainers in a workplace environment;
  2. implement new learning/operational tools to enhance and analyse professional development for staff given increased managerial responsibilities;
  3. link to improve training issues with leadership and organisational development;
