Entry Requirements

A candidate shall have relevant professional experience in a health related area approved by the school and either:

(a) hold a degree of a recognised university; or

(b) hold a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Health Management from the University of New England or equivalent; or

(c) satisfy the school by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature.

Advanced Standing

Candidates who hold the Graduate Certificate in Health Management or the Graduate Diploma in Health Management from the University of New England will be granted advanced standing of 24 credit points.

Admission to Candidature

A candidate shall have relevant professional experience in a health related area approved by the school and either:
(a) hold a degree of a recognised university; or
(b) hold a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Health Management from the University of New England or equivalent; or
(c) satisfy the school by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature.

Advanced Standing

Candidates who hold either the Graduate Certificate in Health Management or the Graduate Diploma in Health Management from the University of New England will be granted advanced standing of 24 credit points.

Period of Candidature

For candidates admitted under Rule (a) or (c), the period of candidature shall be:
(a) 1.5 years as full-time candidate;
(b) up to six years as a part-time candidate.

For candidates admitted under Rule (b), the period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to four years as a part-time candidate.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award, a candidate must pass units to the value of 72 credit points.

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Master of International Health Management or students who complete the Quality Management specialisation may be awarded the Master of International Health Management (Quality Management).

Course Aims

The Master of International Health Management will provide both domestic and international health care professionals with the opportunity to undertake advanced health management studies at the Masters level. It will equip graduates with an advanced level of knowledge, understanding and skills in contemporary health management issues and practices from a global perspective. The Quality Management specialisation provides domestic and international health care professionals with the opportunity to study safety and quality in health care and this will equip them to deal with the challenges in contemporary health care.
