Why study the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection at UNE?
The Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection provides education and training in anatomy by dissection to medical, dental and veterinary graduates. It consists of fully integrated study using online technologies such as DVD, CD, and Virtual Libraries. These latter used in preparation prior to the 16 day intensive school in cadaver dissection. Course Accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Note: Students commencing with advanced standing for the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection (see Entry Requirements), will be able to commence in Trimester 1 or Trimester 2, completing Year Long Units which span either Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 or Trimester 2 and Trimester 3. Students who have not completed the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection can be admitted in Trimester 1, however will only be able to enrol in units which span Trimester 2 and Trimester 3.

Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall:
(a) hold a Bachelor of Medicine or a Bachelor of Dentistry or a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent from a recognised university or tertiary institution; or
(b) hold the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection.
International students must meet English language requirements acceptable for registration with the Medical, Dental or Veterinary Boards of Australia.
Medical registration: minimum IELTS 7 in all 4 areas (http://www.amc.org.au/images/FormsGeneral/NationalEngLangPol.pd).
Advanced Standing
Candidates admitted under Rule (b) shall be awarded advanced standing for a maximum of 24 credit points.
Period of Candidature
1. For candidates admitted under Rule (a), the period of candidature shall be up to one year as a full-time candidate.
2. For candidates admitted under Rule (b), the period of candidature shall be up to one year as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 48 credit points at 600-level.

Award of Degree
Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection.

Students will demonstrate an ability to teach surgical anatomy and execute surgical anatomical research on the basis of knowledge gained. Sound knowledge of the discipline will be evaluated in all assessment tasks.

Communication skills will be assessed by all assessment tasks. In particular, students will develop skills in peer teaching which will be assessed by the visiting specialists during the intensive school. These skills will benefit participants' ability to communicate with both patients and peers.
