Why study the Graduate Certificate in Integrated Early Childhood Service Delivery at UNE?

The Graduate Certificate in Integrated Early Childhood Service Delivery is a course designed for professionals from a range of disciplinary backgrounds who are working in the new integrated services being developed in early and middle childhood/family services. It takes a community development, empowerment and strengths-based practice approach. An Indigenous perspective is woven into all aspects of the course.

The course is comprised of four units of study, two of which are core allowing candidates to undertake a range of electives according to their own professional needs.

The course, with its focus on the needs of busy professionals, is available in part time mode using a variety of online learning technologies.

This is not an Early Childhood teacher education qualification.

Entry Requirements

A candidate shall:

1. (a) hold a bachelors degree of a recognised University or tertiary institution; or

(b) satisfy the school by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature; and

2. comply with the University's English Language requirements; and

3. provide written evidence of access to an in integrated service delivery hub or a service that delivers more than one of health, welfare, education, parenting, family or justice programs.

Advanced Standing

The maximum advanced standing shall be for units counting 12 credit points which are deemed to be equivalent to units offered by the University and approved for the course comprising:

(a) up to 12 credit points on the basis of units that have been counted towards another postgraduate qualification at this or another University; or

(b) up to 12 credit points on the basis of units that have not counted towards another postgraduate qualification that have been completed at another University.

There shall be no maximum advanced standing on the basis of units that have not counted towards another postgraduate qualification that have been completed at this University.

Advanced standing is not granted for units undertaken to meet the admission requirements.

Admission to Candidature

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award, and except with the permission of the School, a candidate must pass units to the value of 24 credit points as specified in the program of study.

Candidates shall complete the program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Integrated Early Childhood Service Delivery.

Course Aims

The Graduate Certificate in Integrated Early Childhood Service Delivery is the first in an articulated suite of courses that will provide postgraduate training for professionals from a range of disciplinary backgrounds who are working in the new integrated services being developed in early and middle childhood/family services.

Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  1. demonstrate communication skills enabling them to successfully work in cross-disciplinary teams;
  2. demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental elements of disciplines other than their own;
  3. demonstrate problems solving skills enabling them to function effectively in an integrated service delivery environment; and
  4. demonstrate an understanding of ethical integrated service delivery.
