Program of Study - Overview Course cps

Bachelor of Arts component:
Group 1 - Curriculum Areas (Approved Majors and Minors)

Students undertake:
(i) at least 36 credit points from Group 1 in one curriculum area - which includes not more than 12 credit points at 100 level and at least 12 credit points at 300 level; and
(ii) at least 36 credit points from Group 1 in a second curriculum area - which includes not more than 12 credit points at 100 level and at least 12 credit points at 200/300 level; and
(iii) not more than 24 credit points from Group 1 in a third curriculum (MINOR) area, which includes at least 12 credit points at 200/300 level, or
(iv) not more than 24 credit points from Group 1 in any curriculum area.

It is not possible to include both Modern History and Ancient History as two teaching Majors.

It is possible, however, to include either Modern History or Ancient History as one teaching major and either Modern History or Ancient History as a minor. This will apply within the HSIE area only.

Curriculum areas include: Aboriginal Studies; Drama; Economics; English; Geography; Ancient History; Modern History; Modern Languages; Society and Culture, including: Aboriginal Studies, Archaeology, Asian and Pacific Studies, Civics-Government-Politics, Philosophy, Psychology (one unit allowed); Religious Studies, Sociology; Studies in Religion and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Group 3 - Curriculum Units
1. Candidates must undertake at least 24 credit points in curriculum units depending upon the number and combination of designated teaching areas.
2. Candidates may take up to three teaching areas in the HSIE area. Students undertaking one HSIE teaching area are required to undertake EDSS411 and the specialised curriculum unit. Students undertaking two or more teaching areas in HSIE are required to undertake EDSS411 and EDSS412, as well as the specialised curriculum units.
3. It is not possible to include both Modern History and Ancient History as two teaching Majors.
4. It is possible, however, to include either Modern History or Ancient History as one teaching major and either Modern History or Ancient History as a minor. This will apply within the HSIE area only.
5. Some curriculum units are offered only off campus.
