NR331 - Remote Sensing and Surveying
|
| Unit Description |
The unit content includes: introduction to remote sensing, photogrammetry, global positioning systems, maps and mapping systems (Global and Australia), introductory surveying (tapes, levelling, areas and volumes). There is then a choice of modules. Remote sensing must be taken by Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master in GIS students including satellite remote sensing and ground-based sensing systems. Surveying must be taken by Bachelor of Engineering Technology and Archaeology students and includes theodolites, electronic distance measurements, and total stations. The principles of each topic are presented and applications to natural resource management, engineering, geography, archaeology and planning are demonstrated. NR531 is based on the undergraduate unit with additional assessable load and greater demonstrated understanding required.
