MEDI498 and MEDI499 together combine to form the basis of an honours study program which spans 12 months. Students will be required to meet with supervisors regularly throughout the year.

Unit Description

This unit is part of a research training program specifically for medical students wishing to develop skills as researchers. It provides the opportunity to conduct a research project related to student interest and provided appropriate supervision can be arranged in relevant discipline areas.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. compile a research proposal which includes a literature review and methodology;
  2. apply appropriate standards of personal safety and abide by OH&S procedures when collecting data;
  3. apply selected research methods appropriate to their intended study;
  4. collect and analyse data using apprpriate methods and tools; and
  5. write up of the outcomes of the study as a dissertation in a scholarly manner.
