Why study the Graduate Certificate in Agriculture at UNE?
The Graduate Certificate in Agriculture is the first award level of a fully articulated program which gives qualified applicants the opportunity for study at progressive levels in agriculture related disciplines - Master of Agriculture or Master of Science in Agriculture.
The program is designed as a professional development course in areas relevant to agriculture. The flexibility of the program gives students the opportunity to gain fundamental skills from foundation units in Agricultural areas, or broaden and develop their professional knowledge and management skills in a chosen area of study.
It is recommended that students entering the course with limited background in a relevant discipline undertake 12 cp of 200/300-level foundation units after consultation with the Course Co-ordinator.
All major can only be studied on a part-time basis unless a Program of Study has been approved by the Course Co-ordinator.
International Students wishing to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Agriculture on a full-time basis are required to contact the course coordinator to determine an individual Program of Study

Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall:
(a) hold a bachelor degree from a recognised University; or
(b) satisfy the school by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature.
Advanced Standing
Advanced standing is not granted for units taken to meet course admission requirements (except for an approved articulation in the course).
The maximum advanced standing shall be for units counting 6 credit points which are deemed to be equivalent to units offered by UNE and approved for the course comprising:
(a) 6 credit points for units completed at UNE; or
(b) 6 credit points for units completed from another institution and not counted towards an awarded qualification; or
(c) 6 credit points on the basis of considerable professional experience.
There shall be no maximum advanced standing on the basis of units completed at this University that have not counted towards a qualification.
Period of Candidature
The period of candidature shall be:
(a) 0.5 year as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to two years as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 24 credit points from one of the Course Work Programs with no units below 200 level and at least 12 credit points at 500 level.

Candidates shall complete an approved program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:

All course work programs can only be studied on a part-time basis unless a Program of Study has been approved by the Course Coordinator.
Award of Degree
A candidate who meets the course requirements including one approved course work program shall be awarded the Graduate Certificate in Agriculture.
