Master of Psychology (Clinical)
Why study the Master of Psychology (Clinical) at UNE?
This course will train Psychology graduates in the professional specialisation of clinical psychology. The program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Accreditation will enable graduates to apply for membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), to meet the academic requirements for entry to the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, and to register as psychologists.

Admission to Candidature
1. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the school on the recommendation of the course coordinator.
2. To qualify for admission to candidature, an applicant shall have fulfilled the requirements for a degree of this University or have fulfilled the requirements for a degree or other qualification of equivalent standing of a university or other institution recognised by the school for this purpose, provided that the applicant either:
(a) has completed an honours degree in Psychology at the level of at least second class honours; or
(b) has completed a qualification approved by the school as equivalent to that specified in Rule 2.(a).
Advanced Standing
Advanced standing shall not be granted for units in the course.
Period of Candidature
The period of candidature shall be:
(a) two years as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to five years as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
1. To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 96 credit points approved by the course coordinator and shall complete such clinical practice or other field experience as may be prescribed by the school.
2. Units offered for the first semester (or part time equivalent) of the course are available by internal on-campus study only.
3. Unless good cause is shown to the school, failure in any unit shall result in termination of candidature.

Practicum
1. One of the three periods of practical work shall be completed in the Clinic of the School of Behavioural, Cognitive and Social Science. The remaining Practicum shall be completed outside the University.
2. Candidates will be responsible for meeting all expenses arising from practicums undertaken away from Armidale.
Re-enrolment
1. Withdrawal from any unit shall be deemed to be withdrawal from candidature.
2. On the recommendation of the course coordinator, the school may re-admit to candidature a person who has withdrawn from any unit. The school shall decide what, if any, of the candidature completed prior to the withdrawal shall be counted towards the new period of candidature.
Progression and Conduct
1. Candidates may have their candidature terminated on the grounds of unsatisfactory progress or unprofessional or unethical conduct.
2. Unprofessional or unethical conduct shall be determined with reference to the appropriate professional Code of Ethics.
3. Before a candidate has his/her candidature terminated, he/she shall be given opportunity to show cause why such action should not be taken.
