Why study the Master of Applied Anatomy by Dissection at UNE?

The Master of Anatomy by Dissection provides education and training in anatomy by dissection to medical, dental and veterinary graduates. It consists of fully integrated study using online technologies such as DVD, CD and virtual libraries. The candidates having completed intensive whole body regional cadaveric dissection will then proceed to the study of specific surgeon-supervised regional surgical anatomy (approaches and procedures) related to their research interest.

Candidates who wish to discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit:

(a) With the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection on completion of 24 credit points, including units ANAT600 and ANAT601; or

(b) With the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection on completion of 48 credit points, including units ANAT600, ANAT601, ANAT610 and ANAT611.

Such candidates who wish to complete either the Graduate Certificate of Applied Anatomy by Dissection or the Graduate Diploma of Applied Anatomy by Dissection must reapply for admission and will be subject to the most current course rules.

Entry Requirements

A candidate shall:

(a) hold a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Dentistry or Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent from a recognised University or tertiary institution; or

(b) hold the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection; or

(c) hold the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection.

The level of English specified for registration with the Medical, Dental or Veterinary Boards of Australia. Medical registration is: minimum IELTS 7 in all 4 areas http://www.amc.org.au/images/FormsGeneral/NationalEngLangPol.pdf

Advanced Standing

Articulation pathways will be permissible for the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection or equivalent and the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection or equivalent

Admission to Candidature

A candidate shall:
(a) hold a Bachelor of Medicine or a Bachelor of Dentistry or a Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent from a recognised university or tertiary institution; or
(b) hold the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection of the University of New England; or
(c) hold the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection of the University of New England.

International students must meet English language requirements acceptable for registration with the Medical, Dental or Veterinary Boards of Australia.
Medical registration: minimum IELTS 7 in all 4 areas (http://www.amc.org.au/images/FormsGeneral/NationalEngLangPol.pd).

Advanced Standing

Candidates admitted under Rule (b) shall be awarded advanced standing for a maximum of 24 credit points.
Candidates admitted under Rule (c) shall be awarded advanced standing for a maximum of 48 credit points.

Period of Candidature

1. For candidates admitted under Rule (a) the period of candidature shall be up to five years as a part-time candidate.

2. For candidates admitted under Rule (b) the period of candidature shall be up to four years as a part-time candidate.

3. For candidates admitted under Rule (c) the period of candidature shall be up to two years as a part-time candidate.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 72 credit points at 600-level.

Candidates shall complete an approved program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Master of Applied Anatomy by Dissection.

Exit Pathways

Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection on completion of 24 credit points, including units ANAT600 and ANAT601.
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection on completion of 48 credit points including units ANAT600, ANAT601, ANAT610 and ANAT611.

Such candidates who wish to complete either the Graduate Certificate in Applied Anatomy by Dissection or the Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection must re-apply for admission and will be subject to the most current course rules.
