| Entry Requirements | 1. Admission to a final honours course shall be at the discretion of the Head of School and subject to the provisions of Rule 2. 2. (a) Except as provided in Rule 2.(b) and (c), a candidate for admission to a final honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours shall have fulfilled the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science and shall have completed a listed unit appropriate to the proposed field of study. (b) The Head of the School may approve for admission to a final honours course leading to the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours a candidate who has fulfilled the requirements for an appropriate degree or other qualification of equivalent standing at another university or other institution recognised by the school for this purpose. The School may require additional evidence which will be specified in each case of the ability of such a candidate to undertake a final honours course in the school concerned. (c) With the approval of the School a candidate who has completed, within the Faculty, appropriate units from the listed units with a value of at least 36 credit points of the Bachelor of Environmental Science and who has completed within the University or at any other institution approved by the School for this purpose, other units equivalent to those additional units specified in the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science may be admitted to candidature for the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science with Honours. 3. Normally, candidature for the degree shall commence at the beginning of the year following that in which the candidate qualifies in terms of Rule 2. Candidature may be commenced at other times only with the approval of the Head of School. |

Admission to Candidature
1. Admission to a final honours course shall be at the discretion of the Head of School and subject to the provisions of Rule 2.

Period of Candidature
The period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to two years as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
1. A candidate shall complete a final honours course in one of the fields of study encompassed by the course work programs listed in Bachelor of Environmental Science.
2. A final honours course is a unit of fourth-year standard bearing the numerical designation 400. The course may include units counting up to 12 credit points from the listed units of the rules governing the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science or other courses offered in the University and approved by the School. Each unit shall count for not more than five per cent of the assessment and workload for the final honours course.
Classes of Honours
There shall be three classes of honours, namely Class I, Class II and Class III. Class II shall have two divisions, namely Division 1 and Division 2. There shall be no re-examination.
An exceptionally distinguished candidate who has been awarded First Class Honours may be awarded a University Medal.

Candidates are referred to the University Policy on Appeals.
Improper Conduct
Candidates are referred to the University Policy on Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct.
For candidates studying Full-Time = 48 cps per year or 24 cps per semester. This equates to a workload of approximately 40-48 hours per week.
For candidates studying Part-Time = 24 cps per year or 12 cps per semester. This equates to a workload of approximately 20-24 hours per week.
