Entry Requirements

1. This course is available on a fee-paying basis only.

2. A candidate shall:

(a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a three-year degree or an equivalent qualification, acceptable to the school as sufficient qualification for admission to candidature; or

(b) have completed the Graduate Certificate in Management or other Graduate Certificate as approved by the Director, with a minimum Credit grade average, normally in the first four units completed towards the Graduate Certificate.

3. In addition, applicants for admission to candidature must provide evidence of at least three years work experience in a field of employment approved by the school on the recommendation of the Director of the Graduate School of Business.

4. An applicant for candidature shall apply to the Director of the Graduate School of Business on the prescribed form.

5. Admission to candidature and the date of commencement shall be determined by the school.

6. After admission to candidature, a candidate shall have a program of study approved by the school on the recommendation of the Director of the Graduate School of Business.

Certified Copies of evidence of identification

Evidence of English Language Proficiency if applicable

A Personal Statement outlining key items: Most significant achievements to date; How this degree will contribute to your career; Where you see yourself in five years from now;

2 Referee Reports will need to be submitted independently by 2 referees (friends and family members are not acceptable)

Advanced Standing

At the discretion of the school, a candidate may be granted advanced standing for:

up to 24 credit points may be granted on the basis of units that have been counted towards another postgraduate qualification at this or another University; or

up to 24 credit points on the basis of postgraduate units that have not been counted towards any qualification provided they have a reasonable degree of correspondence to units prescribed for the course; or

up to 24 credit points for other significant learning which the school considers equivalent to units prescribed for the course work program; or

up to 24 credit points for units completed towards the Graduate Certificate in Management or other Graduate Certificate approved by the Director and, if the candidate does not have a first degree, provided a minimum of Credit average is achieved in these units.

The trimester system allows students to study over three semester long teaching periods each year.

(d) up to 24 credit points for units completed towards the Graduate Certificate in Management or other Graduate Certificate approved by the Director of the Graduate School of Business and, if the candidate does not have a first degree, provided a minimum of Credit average is achieved in these units.

Period of Candidature

The period of candidature shall be:
(a) six 15-week trimesters of full-time study;
(b) up to twelve 15-week trimesters of part-time study.

In exceptional circumstances, the school, may, on the recommendation of the Director of the Graduate School of Business, extend the period of candidature for a period or periods totalling not more than four trimesters.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 48 credit points approved by the Director of the Graduate School of Business.
The program of study may comprise any of the four unit majors specified in the Master of Business Administration. A major composed of GSB units will not be deemed to have been completed unless at least half of the required units have been studied in the UNE MBA Program.

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Management.

Improper Conduct

Candidates are referred to the University Policy on Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct.

For candidates studying Full-Time = 48 cps per year or 12 or 18 cps per trimester. This equates to a workload of approximately 40-48 hours per week.
For candidates studying Part-Time = 6 or 12 cps per trimester. This equates to a workload of approximately 10-12 hours per week per 6 cps.
