Bachelor of Sustainability

Why study the Bachelor of Sustainability at UNE?

The Bachelor of Sustainability at UNE is about understanding social and community sustainability as well as ecologically sustainable development. UNE is the only university in Australia that offers the degree, which provides a unique opportunity to develop skills and an understanding of sustainability in a holistic manner, integrating social science with environmental science.

You will study a diverse range of subjects as part of the Bachelor of Sustainability including environmental management, geography, law, psychology, economics and policy; and you can choose from a broad range of electives. Psychology for Sustainability, Climate Change and Future Planning, Geography of Rural Social Change, and Environmental Planning and Administration are examples of units to support your career development. You can major in Ecological Resilience, Social Resilience or a combined major incorporating both areas.

This degree has been designed for graduates to take advantage of the growing demand in the "green collar" sector of the employment market. Graduates will be equipped with the ability to understand the complexities of the environmental and social problems which beset our society, as well as the problem-solving abilities needed to build a sustainable future. These skills are being increasingly sought after by employers.
