Why study the Bachelor of Languages and International Business at UNE?
This degree aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to function effectively both in Australia and overseas in an international business/commerce context.
Students spend a year in the country of the language major with one semester of academic study at a partner university, followed by either one semester of work placement or an additional semester of academic study.

| Benefits | Students may spend the first unit of their intercalary year at a university with which the School of Arts has formal agreements. Currently, agreements or bilateral exchange agreements exist with specific universities in China (Guilin, Xi'an), France (Angers, Saint-Etienne) and French-speaking Canada (Quebec City), Germany (Oldenburg, Trier) and Austria (Graz, Klagenfurt), Italy (Macerata) and Japan (Hiroshima, Kagoshima, Nagoya, Tokyo). Such agreements mean that tuition fees are waived, that help is given with finding accommodation and that an element of pastoral care is provided. Some financial assistance is available in connection with study at certain of these universities. Students have the opportunity of completing a business work placement overseas, in the country of their target language. |

| Practical, Clinical or Work Experience | Candidates have the opportunity of completing a business work placement overseas, in the country of their target language. |

| Advanced Standing | Students may apply for advanced standing towards the Bachelor of Languages and International Business degree on the basis of previous tertiary study. No advanced standing is given for OSLS391, OSLS392 or OSWP300. |

Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see Admission Rule Undergraduate Policy).
Advanced Standing
Advanced standing shall not be granted for in-country residence units.
Period of Candidature
The period of candidature shall be:
(a) four years as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to ten years as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 192 credit points with not more than 60 credit points at 100-level and at least 36 credit points at 300/400-level, excluding the in-country residence units.

Candidates shall complete an approved program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:

Award of Degree
Candidates who meet the course requirements including one approved major shall be awarded the Bachelor of Languages and International Business.
Exit Pathways
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Bachelor of Arts on completion of 144 credit points, with 48 credits points in each of two approved languages of which at least 18 credit points must be at 300/400-level, excluding in-country residence units.
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Diploma in Modern Languages on completion of 48 credit points in one approved language.
