The Bachelor of Financial Administration is an Accredited Undergraduate Course of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and Institute of Public Accountants. | Benefits | There are three major professional accounting bodies in Australia: CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). In order to satisfy the educational requirements for admission to the major professional accounting bodies, it is necessary to complete the following units in addition to the compulsory units for the degree: Advanced Financial Accounting, Auditing, Principles of Corporation Law, Principles of Taxation Law. Summer Semester provides an opportunity for students to fast-track their academic progression or to catch up on units required to complete the degree. A selection of units are offered off-campus during the normal semester break from November to February, enabling students to study from home and to accelerate their progress towards graduation. |

| Entry Requirements | A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see Admission Rule Undergraduate Policy). Assumed knowledge is any two units of English. For some units in the economics, finance and quantitative areas it is recommended that students have previously studied mathematics. Also Accounting, Economics and Business. |

| Double Degree Opportunities | Students may enrol in the Bachelor of Financial Administration/Bachelor of Laws program resulting in a student being qualified for accreditation as a lawyer as well as an accountant and finance graduate. This program normally takes full-time students five years to complete. The Bachelor of Financial Administration may be taken with the Bachelor of Laws degree from the outset or students may apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Financial Administration /Bachelor of Laws program upon demonstrating satisfactory progress in their BFinAdmin course work. |

| Advanced Standing | Students may apply for advanced standing towards the degree on the basis on previous tertiary study. Please note that the professional accounting bodies will not accept advanced standing granted for non-university courses that are incomplete, and TAFE Certificate and Diploma courses that are not post-year 12 and are not equivalent to at least one year of full time study. |

Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see Admission Rule Undergraduate Policy).
Period of Candidature
The period of candidature shall be:
(a) three years as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to ten years as a part-time candidate.
Course Requirements
To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 144 credit points with not more than 60 credit points at 100-level; at least 36 credit points at 300-level of which 24 credit points shall comprise units with an AFM prefix; and not more than 36 credit points from units outside the Faculty of the Professions.

Award of Degree
Candidates who meet the course requirements shall be awarded the Bachelor of Financial Administration.
Exit Pathways
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Diploma in Commerce on completion of 48 credit points.
