Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood)

Why study the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) at UNE?

After completing a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), or its equivalent graduates may apply to continue studying for a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood ). The course focuses on the birth to eight year old age group and is designed to be responsive to the diverse employment opportunities of early childhood teachers and related services. This degree provides the necessary qualifications to take advantage of the new Government agenda to ensure that all children in the year before formal schooling will have access to high quality early childhood education programs delivered by a four year degree-qualified early childhood teachers, for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year, in public, private and community-based preschools and child care by 2013.

This degree also provides the necessary qualifications for senior positions in early childhood such as, Director of a Centre and teaching in the VET sector.

Please note: The Bachelor of Education (EC) is not recognised in NSW to teach in Primary schools.

Advanced Standing

Candidates are referred to the University Policy on Advanced Standing.

Period of Candidature

The period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to four years as a part-time candidate.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 48 credit points.
