Summer Semester provides an opportunity for students to fast-track their academic progression or to catch up on units required to complete the degree. A selection of units is offered off-campus during the normal semester break from November to February, enabling students to study from home and to accelerate their progress towards graduation.

Intensive Schools

Entry Requirements

A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see Admission Rule Undergraduate Policy).

Assumed knowledge is any two units of English plus Mathematics.

Practical, Clinical or Work Experience

Students may complete the Work Ready Unit as an elective.

Double Degree Opportunities

Students may transfer to the double degrees of Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws upon obtaining at least a Grade Point Average of 4.5 (P=4, C=5). This double degree program takes students five years of normal (full-time) semester enrolment to complete.

Advanced Standing

Students may apply for advanced standing towards the degree on the basis of previous tertiary study.

Fast Track

Summer Semester is available for selected units (Commonwealth Supported Places available)

Honours

Students with above average grades are encouraged to undertake a fourth year of advanced study in their major, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Economics with Honours.

Scholarships

The University offers a number of Faculty/College and country scholarships available to Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Admission to Candidature

A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see Admission Rule Undergraduate Policy).

Period of Candidature

The period of candidature shall be:
(a) three years as a full-time candidate;
(b) up to ten years as a part-time candidate.

Course Requirements

To qualify for the award a candidate must pass units to the value of 144 credit points with not more than 60 credit points at 100 level; at least 36 credit points at 300 level of which at least 24 credit points shall be from the School of Business, Economics and Public Policy and School of Law; and not more than 36 credit points from schools outside the Faculty of the Professions.

Award of Degree

Candidates who meet the course requirements including one major or two majors shall be awarded the Bachelor of Economics.

Exit Pathways

Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Diploma in Commerce on completion of 48 credit points.
