Unit Description

This is a reading unit which focuses on Indigenous perspectives in contemporary literature. It looks at bias in academic writing, critical reading and further develops students reading, note-taking and comprehension skills. Topics covered include contemporary issues Indigenous communities, including identify, health, education and social justice.

  1. have an appreciation of the importance of reading at university;
  2. explain the different types of reading resources that present different views and issues on the same subject; and
  3. have an understanding of how various points of view are expressed by looking at different materials such as books, magazines and newspapers.
