Unit Description

This unit provides an introduction to pollution management and examines the sources, effects and means of controlling/avoiding pollution including the legal and administrative aspects of pollution. Topics covered include global atmospheric change; environmental risk assessment; air pollution; water pollution; water quality control; solid waste management and resource recovery; and integrated pollution management. The unit adopts a proactive approach to reducing/avoiding pollution rather than a regressive control approach.
