Unit Description

This unit provides students with an overview of the more frequent presentations of maladaptive behaviour in humans. The variety of casual factors associated with the development of such behaviour will be examined, and an introduction to the treatment of these disorders is provided. Students will develop a critical understanding of the differences between a psychological (dimensional) and a psychiatric (categorical) approach to conceptualising such disorders. Students will also design a research project to address a current issue in abnormal psychology.
