Unit Description

PSYC101 and PSYC102 together present an introductory overview of the field of psychology and meet prerequisite requirements for enrolment in second year psychology units. Topics covered in PSYC102 focus on individual and social functioning including: thought and language; individual differences; personality; abnormal psychology; methods of therapy; and social cognition and affect. Research methods and statistics are also examined in this unit.

  2. apply selected psychological concepts and principles to real-life situations;
  3. describe and discuss the empirical method as it is employed in a number of areas of psychological research;
