Unit Description

Organisational behaviour enables managers to understand, predict and influence the behaviour of individuals and groups in Organisations. This unit introduces students to the theories and models relating to organisational behaviour. This unit begins with students applying these theories to their own behaviour and reflecting on how theory can support managers in being effective. The unit will provide the opportunity for experiential learning in practical situations and analysis of and reflection of that learning. Students become familiar with fundamental principles of individual and group behaviour including personality, learning, attitudes, interests, and values, perceptions, motivation, emotional control, group dynamics, conflict and its resolution and issues associated with workforce diversity. Students will also become familiar with some basic research methods and associated data analytic techniques used in the study of human behaviour in organisational contexts.
