Unit Description

This unit introduces students to the works of major Italian novelists of the latter part of the 20th Century. It traces the development of the novel from the postwar to the modernistic and post-modernistic periods.

  2. demonstrate a knowledge of 20th Century Italian literature;
  3. demonstrate a knowledge of the socio-political situation of modern Italy;
  4. demonstrate a greatly expanded Italian language ability through the reading of modern Italian texts;
  5. expect to show a greater critical acumen and provide fuller critical apparatus than those at 300-level.
