Unit Description

This intermediate unit builds upon the skills gained in INDN201. Further aspects of Indonesian culture and society are introduced such as village and city life, religion and beliefs, Australia-Indonesia relations, etc. Various communicative tasks and activities and grammar remain part of the teaching-learning process.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. develop an increased understanding and empathy for Indonesian people and cultures beyond that already demonstrated in INDN201;
  2. communicate with a higher level (intermediate) of linguistic competence in the four macro skills, ie understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Indonesian, in a variety of everyday contexts and related to themes such as village and city life, religions, and Australia-Indonesia relations, and with a higher level of fluency and grammatical accuracy than already achieved in INDN201;
  3. achieve level 2 of the Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating Scale.

4 Information Literacy
The online component of this unit will give students the chance to practise and improve their information technology skills. Students will also be able to access a great deal of information about Indonesia (relevant to the Modules). 		True True
5 Life-Long Learning
The Indonesian language units at UNE are presented in a way that aims to further develop students' confidence and skills as a language learner. INDN202 aims to assist them to progress on the long-term journey towards an understanding of Indonesian language and culture. 		True True
