Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
-
develop an increased understanding and empathy for Indonesian people and cultures beyond that already demonstrated in INDN201;
-
communicate with a higher level (intermediate) of linguistic competence in the four macro skills, ie understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Indonesian, in a variety of everyday contexts and related to themes such as village and city life, religions, and Australia-Indonesia relations, and with a higher level of fluency and grammatical accuracy than already achieved in INDN201;

achieve level 2 of the Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating Scale.

Knowledge of a Discipline
This unit further develops students' linguistic competence in Indonesian, while continuing to enhance their intercultural awareness, and these skills are practised and assessed in all tasks.

Communication Skills
Students' communication skills will be further enhanced by learning how to communicate appropriately at an intermediate level in Indonesian in a variety of situations. In addition, group discussions online will help to develop their communication skills.

Since learning Indonesian language gives students an opportunity to learn about Indonesian culture and society, this unit will enhance their global perspective.

The online component of this unit will give students the chance to practise and improve their information technology skills. Students will also be able to access a great deal of information about Indonesia (relevant to the Modules).
