Unit Description

This unit prepares students for professional life as a social worker. The importance of professional support and supervision and avenues for professional development are presented and discussed in relation to particular fields of social work drawing together and critically reflecting on the theoretical and practice knowledge from previous units and the practice of social work.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. articulate and demonstrate the role of the social worker in a variety of settings with reference to the AASW code of ethics and practice standards;
  2. demonstrate understanding of the main theoretical frameworks of social work practice;
  3. confidently source information and referrals for social work clients.
