Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. identify and discuss the major scientific and practice foundations of the nursing care of cardiac patients/clients in a variety of health care settings;
  2. describe and discuss surgical cardiac procedures and the nurses' role;
  3. describe, analyse and discuss cardiac pharmacology including application of theoretical knowledge critically to the administration of cardiac medications and solutions;
  4. describe, reflect on and critically interpret the various domains of cardiac nursing practice and applications of care in different settings;
  5. describe, reflect on and critically discuss generic versus emergency approaches to cardiac care nursing and the role of multidisciplines in the health care team;
  6. integrate and apply evidenced-based theoretical cardiac nursing care knowledge into various practice settings.
