Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

demonstrate an understanding of the basic concepts involved in both qualitative and quantitative research;

demonstrate knowledge of appropriate research design to address the question being asked in the study;

describe basic issues associated with sampling and data collection;

demonstrate an understanding of data analysis techniques in principle, for both qualitative and quantitative research;

find refereed journal articles that are based on research and relate to clinical practice;

critically analyse published journal articles in terms of the strengths and weaknesses of the research methodology, sampling, data collection, and data analysis.
