Unit Description

This unit focuses on the role of ethics in organisations. Ethics in the context of business is the main focus although professional ethics is also considered with particular reference to accounting ethics. It will also become clear that many of the issues discussed in the context of business ethics are equally relevant to professional ethics. In Part One the theories and concepts that provide the analytical tools required to identify and evaluate business activity are explained along with tools and techniques for managing ethics within organisations. Professional ethics, with an emphasis on the accounting profession, is also covered. Part Two contextualizes business ethics using a stakeholder framework. In addition, the impact of globalisation, requirements of corporate citizenship and sustainability concerns are addressed.
