Unit Description

This unit considers critical processes associated with communication and its management. It reviews various perspectives on communication management and examines links between these perspectives and learning in different contexts. In addition, the unit explores specific competencies associated with communication management and reviews tools for auditing communication management.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. analyse concepts and applications of various communication models and perspectives;
  2. demonstrate a sensitive awareness of the potential impact of various personal, interpersonal, and organizational considerations on the communication process;
  3. exhibit competent insights into how to effectively communicate through a variety of oral, nonverbal, pictorial, and written media; utilise various competencies and skills to analyse and address important communication issues and problems that can arise in organisational contexts;
  4. establish a firm foundation for self-directed learning and for organisational learning with respect to communication management.
