Unit Description

This introductory unit aims to develop a thorough understanding and appreciation of the nature and processes of research, especially in the field of management. It is specifically designed to help those engaging in research for the first time. It has both theoretical and practical dimensions, showing the wide variety of ways any given problem or phenomenon might be studied and the consequences of the approach adopted; the tools of social research; the major issues of design and conduct of research; preparing proposals for research projects; and evaluating quality of others' research by conventional criteria.
