Knowledge of a Discipline
Students will be able to speak and understand German, and this will be assessed in all the set assessment tasks.

Communication Skills
In this unit students will learn to communicate effectively in the various registers of German. In class, and via the Discussion Board for off-campus students, learners will also discuss linguistic problems in English, thus furthering their overall communication skills.

Global Perspectives
Through reading texts from a variety of sources, students will gain a greater understanding of the cultures of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which will require them to see their own cultures in a global context.

Information Literacy
As part of this unit, students will use CALL programs. The unit will also require students to use email and the Discussion Board.
