Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

competently read and understand German short stories;

understand cultural and societal differences in German speaking countries as portrayed in the genre of the short story;

critically discuss literary devices, such as style, symbolism, imagery, narrative perspective etc;

use research tools to develop the skills of essay writing.

Students will learn how to discuss and write about literature and thus improve their communication skills.

Students will make use of the internet to supplement their reading for the set literature. Students will also contribute to discussions on the set literature on the Bulletin Board. These activities will further their information literacy.
