The theme of the unit, and the framework for the three literary texts set, is war and the occupation of France by enemy forces.

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

appreciate a sample of important literary works, written in French, or their equivalent in other areas of French and Francophone culture and civilisation;
analyse their content;
relate this to the social and political context in which the works were conceived.
