Unit Description

The unit consists of the supervised preparation of a research dissertation of 15 000 words, in French or English, on a topic within French and Francophone studies mutually acceptable to the discipline and the student.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. formulate questions pertaining to a specific topic within French or Francophone studies;
  2. use higher order, independent research skills;
  3. use advanced analytical abilities to combine a broad range of research materials, often from several media, in order to answerhis/her thesis question;
  4. write up an extended research dissertation, based upon the student's own question and independant research;
  5. understand the methodological issues and have a broad knowledge of the overall subject area relating to the reading course undertaken as part of FREN401H.
