Unit Description

This unit develops the skills introduced in FREN103. It involves learning to understand and manipulate the French language through the study of French and/or Francophone texts in a variety of media and cultural contexts.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. understand the language of Francophone texts presented in various media;
  2. understand and effectively employ French vocabulary and structures found in or appropriate to a variety of text-types/media/cultural contexts at intermediate level;
  3. engage in French with various Francophone texts presented in various media, and with the ideas inherent in them, at intermediate level.

The broadening of French language skills will encourage and assist students to pursue further French language study and/or the study of another language. Study of cultural texts will enable students to explore French and Francophone cultures in the language of those cultures and to interact with French speakers on a variety of topics.
