Unit Description

This is the second English unit in undergraduate programs. This unit provides an introduction to reading pedagogy in the primary curriculum across all key-learning areas. It examines what happens when people read print based, digital and multimodal texts, and how teachers can best assist children to learn to read these texts. The information we discuss and reflect upon in this unit will provide students with strong foundations in professional knowledge about reading that students can extend during professional experience as they develop confidence and competence as a teacher.
