Unit Description

This lower intermediate unit consolidates the foundations laid at the 100 and 200 level in Chinese. By exposing students to a wide variety of discourse in spoken Chinese, it extends their confidence in using the language patterns previously learnt, expands their vocabulary, and develops their listening skills in particular, as well as skills in oral and written expression.

Learning Outcomes (LO) Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. show improved listening comprehension skills in Chinese;
  2. give prepared talks of up to 5 minutes in length on a range of topics;
  3. show a significantly increased vocabulary range relating to the topics covered;
  4. recognise and use the major grammatical structures of Chinese in spoken language with increased confidence.
