| Overview | IMPORTANT: Applicants who need to satisfy normal admission requirements should apply for the UNE Pathways Enabling Course. Both ENGL001 and MATH122 are offered in the UNE Pathways Enabling Course. The Teacher Education Enabling Course DOES NOT satisfy normal admission requirements for any UNE course, nor is Advanced Standing granted from it towards any teacher education course. The Teacher Education Enabling Course will provide students who have entered or who intend to enter undergraduate teaching degrees the opportunity to complete a Mathematics and/or English unit that will align to the Band 4 Higher School Certificate subject descriptors. This level of attainment is required by the New South Wales Institute of Teachers (NSWIT) if intending to seek teacher registration in New South Wales. |

1. Admission to Candidature
Admission to the Teacher Education Enabling Course will be open to:
(a) candidates who have been admitted to an undergraduate teacher education course; or
(b) candidates who will be seeking admission to an undergraduate teacher education course who have not attained the level of Higher School Certificate Band 4 Mathematics and/or English or equivalent in prior study.
2. Course Requirements
To complete the Teacher Education Enabling Course a candidate shall satisfactorily complete a program of study comprising 6 or 12 credit points including:
(a) ENGL001 if admitted to or seeking admission into an undergraduate secondary teaching program; or
(b) ENGL001 if admitted to or seeking admission into an undergraduate primary program and Mathematics has been completed at Band 4 level or equivalent; or
(c) MATH122 if admitted to or seeking admission into an undergraduate primary program and English has been completed at Band 4 level or equivalent; or
(d) ENGL001 and MATH122 if admitted to or seeking admission into an undergraduate primary teaching program without Band 4 English and Mathematics.
3. Course Structure
A maximum of 6 or 12 credit points may be taken in a semester.
The course is offered in the Off Campus mode only.
4. Period of Candidature
The maximum part-time period of candidature is two years.
6. Program of Study
Candidates shall complete an approved program of study as outlined in the Course Schedule comprising:
