The Graduate Certificate in Science is a flexible course designed for students who wish to expand on their undergraduate program or students who wish to change the direction of their focus. The Graduate Certificate in Science is the first level in an articulated program which can lead to further study at Graduate Diploma or Master coursework level providing the opportunity to qualify for research Master or PhD candidature.
For those wishing to expand their undergraduate program, intensive study is available at graduate level in a range of scientific areas such as biochemistry, botany, chemistry, ecology, genetics, mathematics, microbiology, physics, physiology, statistics and zoology.
For those wishing to enter a new field of study, the Graduate Certificate in Science enables students to gain the basic background knowledge required for further study at graduate level in areas related to science.

To qualify for the award a candidate shall complete a total of 24 credit points with not more than 12 credit points at 100-level. Candidates shall complete a program of study in accordance with their background and area of interest.

Period of Candidature
The maximum period of candidature is one semester as a full-time candidate or two years as a part-time candidate.
Advanced Standing
A maximum of 6 credit points of advanced standing may be granted for units which have not been counted towards another qualification or for considerable professional experience in a relevant field of interest.
