Unit Description

This unit provides students with an introduction to feminist film analysis, and a feminist perspective on a range of mainstream films which represent, and/or explore the representation of women. Students will study each film text in relation to a particular issue, and along with a specified piece of theoretical and analytical writing. Some of the films studied are: "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes"; "Aliens"; "Vertigo"; "The Piano"; "Orlando" and "Silence of the Lambs".
