Unit Description

This unit deals with the scientific study of the mental processes that underlie cognitive activity: the acquisition, retention, and use of knowledge. Topics include: the historical origins if cognitive research; learning; perception; attention; memory; concepts; reasoning and consciousness. Theoretical principles and practical applications are both highlighted.
