Unit Description

This unit introduces methods of research in the behavioural sciences. Topics covered will include measurement and operationalisation of constructs, the data collection process, and the design of simple studies. Statistics instruction includes descriptive measures, simple correlation and regression, the comparison of two or more groups in one-way and factorial designs, the logic of statistical inference, and the use of SPSS. Online tutorials and information are available. Three lectures per week throughout most of the semester and four compulsory computer-based laboratory sessions.
