Unit Description

This unit explores topical themes in Pacific Islands politics on a comparative basis. It analyses the interaction between culture and politics, especially in relation to democratisation and ethnic conflict. The nature and scope of regionalism is examined with reference to themes such as nuclear issues, decolonisation and sustainable development. Australia's role in the region is a focus of enquiry.
