Unit Description

This unit has three primary areas of focus, Advanced modal concepts, involving studies in jazz and Messiaen's modes of limited transposition, arrangement for jazz/concert band and composition. The composition focus is on technology and music, with considerations given to the influence of technology (other than instrument design) on composers and performers, not just in recent times but throughout Western music history.
