Unit Description

This unit introduces student to the main strands of Applied Linguistics, giving an overview of the nature of the discipline and some of the controversies which exist within it. Topics covered include: language in social context, language use the history and practice of language teaching, discourse analysis, language attitudes and ideologies, language policy, language and the law and language in education. Web access is essential.
