Unit Description

This unit aims to develop upper intermediate-level communicative competence in Japanese through the following four categories of knowledge/skills: (1) upper intermediate listening and speaking skills in Japanese; (2) upper intermediate skills in reading and writing Japanese (consolidating approx. 400-450 previously learned kanji, learning an additional 100-120 new kanji, reading skills and introducing basic awareness of generic structure of texts); (3) aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to inter-cultural communication at upper intermediate level and; (4) language learning strategies.
