Unit Description

Continuing on from JAPN201, this unit aims to develop intermediate-level communicative competence in Japanese through the following four categories of knowledge/skills: (1) intermediate listening and speaking skills in Japanese (e.g. various conditional and additional honorific/humble verb forms); (2) intermediate skills in reading and writing Japanese (consolidating previously studied approximately 280-300 kanji, learning an additional approximately 120-130 new kanji); (3) aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to inter-cultural communication at intermediate level and; (4) language learning strategies.
