Unit Description

This unit is for students who have completed HSC-level Japanese (or have equivalent proficiency) and aims to develop early intermediate-level communicative competence in Japanese through the following four categories of knowledge/skills: (1) early intermediate listening and speaking skills in Japanese (e.g. causative, passive, benefactive, basic honorific/humble verb forms); (2) early intermediate skills in reading and writing Japanese (consolidating approximately 150-200 previously studied elementary kanji, learning an additional approximately 130 new kanji); (3) aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to inter-cultural communication at early intermediate level and; (4) language learning strategies.
