Unit Description

This unit is for beginners and aims to establish elementary communicative competence in Japanese through the following four categories of knowledge/skills: (1) basic aural and oral skills in Japanese (including introducing oneself, talking about one's daily activities, fundamental forms of verbs, adjectives and particles); (2) basic skills in reading and writing in Japanese (all 109 hiragana, all 109 katakana, 75-100 kanji); (3) awareness of some aspects of Japanese society and culture relevant to inter-cultural communication and; (4) language learning strategies.
