Unit Description

This unit provides an introduction to counselling theory and practice for health professionals. It will include personal, professional and ethical aspects of the helping relationship, including the challenge of addressing diversity appropriately. Theoretical models for a holistic and contextualised approach to understanding and working with clients in a range of health care settings will be explored. Basic helping skills and a range of approaches for working with diverse populations in health care settings will be taught.
